Kevin O’Brien Optometrist conduct a thorough check of all patients’ eye health during an examination. This will detect the early signs of cataract development, monitor the progression of established cataracts and when necessary refer the patient on to an Ophthalmologist for surgery.
The Optometrist is responsible for much of the care of cataract patients prior to surgery and overseeing their visual recovery and needs afterwards.
It is recommended that patients with cataracts have regular eye examinations: usually at 6-monthly or12-monthly intervals, depending on the density of the cataract.
